During my career I have been teaching and researching in many Finnish universities (University of Jyväskylä, University of Eastern Finland, University of Oulu and University of Tampere) as well as in universities abroad (Virginia, USA, Dunedin, New Zealand and Melbourne, Australia). My expertise in ECE focuses on leadership, development of pedagogical practices in child care and quality management in ECE. At the moment I teach bachelor and master courses as well as doctoral studies in ECE in PhD program.
My research orientation is more and more cross-cultural, comparative research. My international research projects focus on leadership as well as examination ECE internationally, studying ECE leaders' leadership and management tasks and professionalism in ECE internationally and education in a changing society. National research focus on developing practices in ECE as well as focusing on leadership and quality and examining ECE in Finnish context and children in child care from point of view of observation and assessment.
I'm the founder of International Leadership Research Forum (http://www.ilrfec.org) as well as founder and chief editor of Journal of Early Childhood Education Research (http://www.jecer.org).
